St Edburg's Church seeks to be a welcoming and caring family, living in Christ's love through worship and service to one another and the wider community.
In Memory of
HRH Prince Philip
Dear St Edburg’s Family
By now you will have heard the sad news of the death of HRH Prince Philip.
We will be remembering His Royal Highness across the team in our services on Sunday. We await further information about arrangements, but we have been advised that there should be no other opening of church buildings to gather people, except for normal Sunday services and private prayer. The Government has advised that in order to observe current Covid-19 precautions, physical condolence books should not be offered at this time. The Church of England has opened a central online condolence book, which is open to anyone who wishes to sign and record a message. You can find the link on the Diocesan website.
Throughout his long life Prince Philip has been an example of duty, service and strong Christian faith both in his own right and, most especially, in his unwavering support to Her Majesty the Queen throughout their 73 years of marriage. As we remember him as a great national figure, our thoughts are also with Her Majesty and the Royal Family as they mourn his loss. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
The Diocese has offered this prayer on the death of His Royal Highness:
God of our lives,
we give thanks for the life of Prince Philip,
for his love of our country,
and for his devotion to duty.
We entrust him now to your love and mercy,
through our Redeemer Jesus Christ.
