The Church has a small committee that carry out thorough research of worthy causes / charities and submit their recommendations to the Parochial Church Council (PCC).
Throughout the year the Church also supports a number of local and national charities such as:
ARE YOU A CHANGEMAKER?
MADE IN THE IMAGE OF GOD?
As a Church we have a policy of giving to charity from our unrestricted income - this is based on a sum of up to 5%.
We have adopted an annual, 3-year revolving policy when selecting the area where we are to give - the three areas are:
Local charity (Oxford diocese)
National charity (United Kingdom)
Christian Aid Week begins next Monday, May 10th. This year our activities are, once again, mainly on line, but the need is as great as ever, exacerbated by climate change and the pandemic. Here is a message from Rose in Kenya, who you will hear about on Sunday.
The climate crisis is leaving people hungry, homeless and heartbroken. People like Rose are struggling to survive without a reliable source of water. From drought to flooding, climate chaos robs people of control over their lives.
"I often feel hungry," Rose says. "Because of climate change, I worry a lot about food. I pray to God that the rainfall will become normal like it used to be. In recent years, the drought has been so bad that its caused a hunger crisis. Crops wither and die. Rivers run dry. People struggle to survive. The coronavirus pandemic has only made this lack of water more critical for Rose. Without water for handwashing, it is a struggle to stay safe from the virus."
Please support our fundraising and help to provide reliable water source, for people like Rose.Your gift will help support Christian Aid's vital work with some of the poorest communities in the world.Thank you!
